The Story
Running Changed Everything.
Satish Gujaran did not start as an elite runner. He started as someone who wanted to understand what his body was capable of and how far he could take it. That curiosity became a discipline, and that discipline and over time, running became a way of life.
Over the years, Satish has completed 75+ full marathons, 50+ ultra-distance races, and 15 consecutive Comrades Marathons. But the numbers are not the point. The real value is what those races have taught him about training, the body, endurance, recovery and what it takes to keep running well for the long term.
That experience became the foundation of RunWithSatish not a coaching approach built around templates and generic plans but one built on lived experience, data, continuous learning and a genuine belief that every runner can improve when they train with purpose. business built on templates and generic plans, but one built on lived experience, data, and a genuine belief that every runner can improve — if they train with purpose.
Qualifications & Experience
Built on Certification and Experience.
ACSM Certified Marathon Coach
Certified by the American College of Sports Medicine — one of the most respected certifications in endurance sports coaching. The ACSM certification underpins the science behind every RWS training plan.
15 Consecutive Comrades Finishes
Fifteen consecutive finishes at the world's greatest ultra-marathon. Not just as a participant — as a student of the race, studying every aspect of what it takes to finish strong.
75+ Full Marathons
A marathon career spanning decades and continents. Each race has added to the coaching knowledge base — what works, what doesn't, and why.
50+ Ultra-Distance Races
From 50km trail runs to 100km road ultras, Satish has competed across a wide range of ultra-distance events — including Tata Ultra, Kalimpong Ultra, Khardung La Challenge, and the Ladakh Marathon.
Coaching Philosophy
Start Easy. Train Smart. Finish Strong.
Every coaching decision at RunWithSatish comes back to three principles.
01
Understand the Runner First
Before any plan is written, Satish takes time to understand the runner — their history, their goals, their current fitness, their lifestyle, and their data. A plan that doesn't fit the runner is not a plan. It's a template.
02
Train at the Right Intensity
Most runners train too hard on easy days and not hard enough on hard days. Heart-rate-based coaching fixes that. Easy runs stay genuinely easy. Hard runs are appropriately hard. Every session has a purpose.
03
Build for the Long Term
The goal is not one race. The goal is a lifetime of strong, healthy, enjoyable running. That means building durability, managing load, integrating strength work, and making decisions that protect the runner's long-term health.
"I don't coach runners to finish races. I coach them to stay fit, healthy and independent as they grow older."
The RWS Difference
What Makes RWS Coaching Different.
Personalised, Not Generic
No two runners receive the same plan. Every programme is built around the individual — their fitness, their goals, their schedule, and their response to training.
Data-Informed Decisions
Heart rate, pace, cadence, training load, recovery scores — Satish reads the data and adjusts training accordingly. Not guesswork. Not gut feel. Evidence.
Strength and Injury Prevention
Durable runners are strong runners. Strength, mobility and injury prevention are integrated into every RWS programme — not added as an afterthought.
Remote Coaching That Works
RWS coaching is fully remote. Runners share their training data digitally and receive personalised plans, weekly feedback, and ongoing support — wherever they are in the world.
